A load qualifier answers one question: does this factory ammunition or handload shoot well in this rifle? You shoot it from a bench, so the test is about the rifle and the ammo — not you.

Two distances, one award standard.
LQ100 — exactly 100 yards
Short-range load qualification
Shot at exactly 100 yards on the qual8_3x target. It tells you whether the selected ammunition shoots well up close, with the bench taking your hold out of it.
LQ500 — declared 490–510 yards
Long-range load qualification
Shot on the qual8_500_moa target. The badge reads LQ500 anywhere from 490 to 510 yards — a 500-yard range shooter and one who can only get 497 or 503 all earn the same award. No chasing an exact 500.

The target proves the ammunition. Velocity explains it.
At distance, LQ500 is decided by where the bullets land. A chronograph helps explain the result and can be powerful during load development, but it is not a replacement for shooting the rifle-ammunition system at distance.
LQ100 can still award from target proof when no chronograph is available. The record should be honest that longer-distance confidence is limited until the rifle-ammunition system is proven farther out.
Bench isolation
A stable bench is the point. It takes your hold out of it, so the result is about the rifle and the ammo — not your position.
Target authority
Where your shots land on the Sigma8 target decides it. At distance, gravity and time of flight make bullets-on-target the authority.
Velocity explains
Velocity and its stats add useful context, especially when looking for a velocity node. They do not replace LQ500 distance proof.

Proof packages — choose how you shoot it.
LQ accepts more than one way to put enough rounds on paper. Every package is held to the same award standard.

- A fixed-load single group of 10 (1×10)
- Minimum
- ≥ 3 groups × ≥ 3 shots, or a fixed-load 1×10
