A load qualifier answers one question: does this load shoot well in this rifle? You shoot it from a bench, so the test is about the rifle and the ammo — not you.

LQ100 — exactly 100 yards

Short-range load qualification

Shot at exactly 100 yards on the qual8_3x target. It tells you whether the load shoots well up close, with the bench taking your hold out of it.

LQ500 — declared 490–510 yards

Long-range load qualification

Shot on the qual8_500_moa target. The badge reads LQ500 anywhere from 490 to 510 yards — a 500-yard range shooter and one who can only get 497 or 503 all earn the same award. No chasing an exact 500.

The target proves the load. Velocity supports it.

At distance, LQ500 looks first at how high and low your shots land, and treats velocity as backup. A chronograph helps fill in the picture, but it never blocks a pass — the target tells the truth.

Shooting from the bench keeps it about the rifle and the ammo, so a load that earns LQ earned it on paper — not on a chronograph number.

Bench isolation

A stable bench is the point. It takes your hold out of it, so the result is about the rifle and the ammo — not your position.

Target authority

Where your shots land on the Sigma8 target decides it. At distance, LQ500 looks first at how high and low they group.

Velocity supports

Velocity and its stats add useful context, but they never block an LQ. The target leads; the chronograph follows.

Proof packages — choose how you shoot it.

LQ accepts more than one way to put enough rounds on paper. Every package is held to the same award standard.

Package A: 3 groups × 3 shots (3×3)
Package B: 3 groups × 4 shots (3×4)
Package C: A fixed-load single group of 10 (1×10)
Minimum: ≥ 3 groups × ≥ 3 shots, or a fixed-load 1×10

LQ500 distance: Declared 490–510 yd · qual8_500_moa target
