Qual8 Qualifiers

Why Shoot Qualifiers

Qual8 uses qualifiers to separate one promising group from performance that repeats across multiple groups. The goal is not to make shooting more complicated.

The goal is to turn practice into proof you can trust in the field or competition.

01

One good group is useful. It is not the whole story.

A group shows what happened once.

Every shooter has a target they are proud of. That target matters. But a single group cannot prove how the rifle, ammunition, and shooter will repeat when the setup changes, conditions shift, or adrenaline spikes.

A qualifier asks a stricter question.

Can you repeat it — same setup, same distance, same Sigma8 target, every time? That is the difference between a good range day and a qualification record.

02

Two families. Pick the one that matches the job.

Load Qualified proves the selected factory ammunition or handload with the rifle, shot from the bench to remove as much human error as possible. Hunt Qualified and Match Qualified test what the shooter can execute at distance with the rifle, optic, rifle/shot setup, and conditions recorded.

“X Qualified” means you have proven readiness for X. It is preparation and proof, not the act itself.

Load Qualified — bench

Load Qualified

LQ100

Bench · exactly 100 yd

Short-range load qualification. LQ100 asks whether selected factory ammunition or a handload shoots well in your rifle, up close. You shoot from the bench so the test is about the rifle and ammo, not your hold.

Load Qualified

LQ500

Bench · declared 490–510 yd

Long-range load qualification. LQ500 distance-proves the rifle-ammunition system with bullets on target. Velocity can help explain the result, but it never replaces shooting at distance.

Rifle-Human Qualified — field & match

Rifle-Human Qualified

HQ — Hunt Qualified

Field positions · HQ200–HQ500

Five one-shot groups from field positions, followed by one target photo. Score with Sigma8 Paper, Steel, or your own target. All five outcomes must be inside the selected Confidence Zone.

Rifle-Human Qualified

MQ-600 — Match Qualified

Bench · exactly 600 yd

Match-grade precision at 600 yards: three 5-shot groups scored as an aggregate, on a 0.50 / 0.40 / 0.25 MOA ladder set against the real benchrest record board. A Qual8 precision standard — not a sanctioned match.

Why is load qualification kept separate from rifle-human qualification? Because a stable bench isolates the rifle and ammunition, while field and match qualifiers test what the shooter can repeat with that setup. See how Qual8 works

03

Precision. Not distance.

Distance on a qualifier is the line you have proven — never a leaderboard, never a number to brag about. A Hunt Qualifier records the exact yardage you shot it at; the award honestly reflects that line and nothing further.

Your bench data tells you what the rifle can do. Your field work tells you what you can do. Qual8 turns that preparation into earned confidence — and the decision still belongs to you.

04

The bench is useful. Field confidence is different.

A 3/4 MOA bench group matters. It shows what the rifle and load may be capable of. But it does not show what the shooter can repeat from a pack, sticks, kneeling, sitting, or a hillside with wind, time pressure, and adrenaline in the mix.

Bench accuracy shows potential. Field-position qualifiers show what the shooter can repeat with that setup.

Bench proof

A stable bench helps isolate the rifle and ammunition. That is why load qualifiers stay separate from rifle-human qualifiers.

Field proof

Uneven ground, support quality, recoil recovery, wind, time, and body position change the result. The Hunt Qualifier tests the shooter under harder field rules.

Target authority

Chronographs and ballistic tools are useful, but the target is where the system tells the truth. Velocity supports the picture. The target decides.

05

Start with the qualifier that matches the job.

Qualify the load when you need to know whether the ammunition recipe performs. Shoot HQ when you need proof of what the shooter can execute with a known rifle, optic, ammunition, support, and condition record. Qual8 keeps those records durable so the next decision starts from proof, not memory.

Or open a specific qualifier above to see exactly how it is shot and scored.
