Free Core Workflow
Range Session
01
The baseline workflow every shooter needs.
Range Session is not the paid add-on.
This is the normal target-analysis workflow: shoot, upload, measure, capture velocity when available, and save the result to the rifle record. Qual8 makes that core workflow free in Marksman.
Proto-Qual is the quick demo.
Proto-Qual lets a shooter try one Sigma8 target without building the full profile first. Range Session is where saved rifle history starts.
02
What a Range Session captures.
Pick the rifle and ammo.
Tie the session to the rifle, barrel round count, ammunition, load card, distance, setup, and notes from the day.
Shoot the target you have.
A Range Session takes a Sigma8 target, steel, or your own paper. Shoot it, then upload the photos from the day.
Map and measure.
On Sigma8 paper Qual8 finds the holes for you; on steel and your own paper you mark each hit. Either way you get group size, mean radius, centroid, and the rest of the session statistics.
Save rifle history.
The result becomes part of the rifle record: target photos, group data, velocity records, Best Group, and barrel history.
03
What other apps charge for, Qual8 makes the starting line.
Target analysis
Upload the photos and get your shots mapped, the group measured, plus mean radius and centroid.
Session statistics
Keep group results, velocity records, notes, target photos, and Best Group tied to the rifle instead of scattered across phone photos and notebooks.
Every rifle
A free Marksman account can save Range Sessions across every rifle you own. The paid tiers unlock deeper comparison and handload optimization.
04
Range Session feeds the rest of Qual8.
Factory Ammo Comparison
When you want to compare factory ammunition, the same target and velocity proof helps show what your rifle actually shoots best.
Compare factory ammoReloading Workflow
For handloaders, Range Session proof connects to recipe, component, velocity, and tuning records so the next load iteration is easier to see.
Read reloading workflowQualifiers
When a shooter is ready to prove repeatability, saved range proof can lead into LQ100, LQ500, Hunt Qualified, or MQ-600 work.
Learn why qualifiers matter05
Start simple. Save the record.
Range Session is the place a shooter starts when they want the target read, the numbers saved, and the rifle history built without committing to a factory comparison or handload tune yet.
That is the point: Qual8 should be useful on the first normal range day, then become more valuable as the shooter adds rifles, ammo comparisons, qualifiers, and load work.
